Seven Days To Go!

As you might know, the most difficult aspect to completing this training schedule is the amount of life outside this sport that we all enjoy.  So, creativity has been my friend in working through each days training.

Totals after 23 days complete:  12 Swims / 14 Bikes / 17 Runs

This means in the next 7 days I will have to get 18 Swims, 16 bikes, and 13 runs in before midnight on the 30th.  OK, you are probably doing the math and wondering what the hell happened last week!  I had another job that locked me down from 7a-6p, Mon-Fri and tests each evening.  Shit, it was tough!

No excuses, time to get focused!  Thank you for following, M

Another week of solid training in the log book!

It has been fun getting all three sports in with the team and my family.  Today for example, I was up at Andy's family lake house in the morning and we biked with his family at 6:30a to start the day.  Shortly after returning from the bike Andy and I went for a 2 mile run at 7:30 per mile.  Lots of fun for both of us!

I then drove back home and met Erin at the pool for a quick 800 and what a beautiful day it was for an outdoor swim.  After a nap, we went for a bike ride for dinner and Jeni's for an ice cream sandwich.  On the way after getting back home we were 2.5 miles short for another 10 mile ride, so we headed up for a cream soda and topped off 10.5 miles.  Fun!

Totals for the past 13 days:  7 swims / 13 Bikes / 10 Runs  (its hell when you take three of the 13 days off)

Tuesday and Back to work!

Completed 2 runs and 2 bikes today thanks to the tour!  Tomorrow I will shoot for 3 runs, 2 swims, 2 bikes...  Hold on to your seats and lets see how the day goes.  Remember, this is all at base heart rate and so far my weight is going down with my eating/drinking increasing.  I will try and include some pics this week.

Holiday Week

8 Days in and between the 4th holiday and the stomach flu working it's way through our family, not many sessions completed.  Here are my totals for the past 8 days:

5 Swims / 5 Bikes / 5 Runs and of course each should be 8...

Day 1 & 2

I'm two days in and setting up logistics to get all three sports in each day is a challenge.  Example:  if your bike is on a trainer and you have no computer connected to the rear wheel, then it doesn't work.  I have one on my road bike, but not on my tri bike.

Today I was able to get all three in again as well as an additional swim (this will be needed later in the month) and the run was the team run with Molly.  She is a stickler for getting the correct time and effort in so I more than covered the 2 miles, however might have ran just a touch fast for recovery.

Day three is tomorrow...

The Question...

Can a multi-sport endurance athlete train at all three sports everyday for 30 days and remain healthy?  Let's find out!  I have said before you can do anything at base heart rate all day long, now it's time to try it.  If you would like to join me we start today or tomorrow, however we end no later than the 31th of this month.

Here are the rules and the sports requirements for each session:

Swim - 800  (I will let you pick between meters or yards)
Bike - 10 miles
Run - 2 miles

Any of these sports can be done multiple times per day with a 4 hour rest between, because I know that you might not get to do all three each day.  Example of a qualified training day:

Swim - 1600
Bike - 15 miles / 6hrs later 10 miles on trainer
Run - 2 miles / 2 miles as a t-run off the second bike
Total = 1 swim, 2 bikes, 2 runs

If you do any of the sports doubling or tripling the required distance, it will not count for multiple sessions working towards your 30 times in 30 days.  The session will only count as 1.  This will help with frequency over volume.

Yes, you can use a stationary bike, however it needs to have an odometer on it.  Remember, to keep this up for 30 days you will need to stick as closely to base HR as possible or you could hurt yourself.  Also, the time this takes in a day will not differ from any of our scheduled build weeks two-a-days...

Who's in?  M
